WGMP, "BORING" ; by the way what would suggest for the millions of non-hunting N.J. residents, as well as millions around the country, that support the bear hunt to do? Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, young adults, what should they do take your advise?
This is not about 125,000 N.J. hunters, many that may not even participate in this hunt. Everyone knows this now so you can stop wasting your time attacking hunters; game over. This is about millions of N.J. residents trying to take steps to protect their families from the inevitable tradegy that will occur from overpopulated "wild" black bears. Look what has happened already, people attacked, house breakin's, domestic pets and livestock attacked and killed
WGMP, you can do this World a favor find a planet somewhere, one that is barren, cold and fill it with people like yourself, people with no respect for human life, no commonsense. Put some mirrors about and take a look at yourself every once-in-awhile; eventually you may find out what you really are, a sick excuse for any living being.
Suggesting that people shoot themselves, you are just another example of a first class loser.

sbraley, yes the world would be better off with people like you, "first class sickos."
We are living in a country going through one of the worst economic downturns of our time. People losing jobs, houses and our young men and women dying on foreign soil for "human rights".
Then here you come wishing harm to another human and why? Because your head is up your A.... where it is to dark to see the light.
There is no state in our country that allows any "wild animal" , especially a black bear, to reach a level of overpopulation that presents a danger to human life. We have too many black bears in N.J. and this could have been prevented starting in 2000 when anti's turned wildlife management into a political football tossed about by vote hungry politicians.
Well now it's game-over Governor Chrisiti has tossed the ball back where it belongs, to professional biologists who have the support from (27) other states professionals in wildlife management.
Do you know who else supports the hunt sbraley? the majority of N.J. citizens, not that you would care, after all they are just humans.
A human being is the most precious gift to life there is.
I hope to God that when your time comes you can be forgiven for your total disrespect of this gift of human life, for wishing harm, death on any human just because you do not agree with their opinion.
Loving animals? I doubt if you even come close because love starts within one's heart then extends beyond and you cannot even see past your nose.
God Bless

Hi Scott and thank you for reading and responding to my blog.
Unfortunately, there is no way that wild animals can be allowed to propagate to whatever numbers they can reach.
You are correct; the human population is growing and land development has taken away some of wildlife's natural habitat. Also correct is your observation about garbage, garbage must be better contained, not just because of black bears but other animals and for sanitary reasons as well.
But none of this has an impact on reducing the overpopulated black bears.
Remember, it is the black bear's activities of attacks on humans, killing of domestic pets and livestock, garage and house breakins that clearly demonstrate the dangers of black bear overpopulation.
Let's look at it this way if a human attacks someone, breaks into a house or garage, kills someone's domestic pet or livestock, THEY GO TO JAIL OR !!!!!
What then gives the black bear the right to get away with these acts?
Geese are destroying property and are responsible for the closing of beaches because they defecate everywhere creating a health issue and yes they present a danger to humans due to potential interference with airplanes.
The solution, population control through hunting and this allows for the successful maintaining of wildlife numbers while allowing those that wish to hunt for sport and/or food an opportunity to pursue wildlife under strict laws and controls.
It is F&G professionals, trained biologists that oversee hunting activities and establish the guidelines and monitor the hunts to be sure that no wildlife is hunted to extinction. Neither these professionals nor hunters themselves will ever allow any species of wildlife to be overhunted and through their efforts they will not be overpopulated either.
All of the anti-hunters/animal-right groups together have done a thimbles worth of wildlife conservation compared to the levels of both F&G professionals and hunters.
Scott I understand your emotions but as I have written many times wildlife management cannot be determined by emotions.
Think of it this way if emotions ruled then no one would ever want to eat processed meat from cows, calves, pigs, chicken, etc. and I won't try to gross you out with the reasons.
So try to understand the need for hunting and support it from that standpoint.

i live in the township of vernon and I have two labors, which are walked every morning and every night. The bears that come a round are only looking for food. their is no need for the killing of hungry animals. Consider that human population has grown. and sometimes people have to learn how to live with the life. for example my girlfriends daughter always , came home and thought the McDonald wrappers in the garbage can and dogs broke my girlfriends Wooded Indian garage can worth $90.00 because the dogs , kept going in the garbage looking for food. The bears have needs to survive , and need to find positive solutions , not killing hungry animals trying to live in our world. i have just read in the new york Post that , 4000 geese were killed just because they lived in a park ,near the Kennedy airport , and jets were fling into the geese, as they taking off. Maybe their could be a better way to solve are problems.
